To apply for Homestead Exemption, you need to go to the Tax Assessor’s office in Hernando and bring the following: a copy of your recorded warranty deed, social security numbers for you and your spouse if you are married, and your closing or settlement statement. Applications for exemption can only be accepted during the months of January, February and March of each year.
